When you're planning a home remodeling project, whether it's new siding, windows, or exterior doors, figuring out how to pay for it is usually one of the first questions that comes up.

Southwest Exteriors has been an exterior remodeling contractor in San Antonio for over 30 years, and we offer several financing options to make larger projects more manageable. Financing can feel confusing, so here are answers to the questions we hear most often.

Are there prepayment penalties?

No. If you pay off your project early, you won't be charged a penalty for doing so.

What information do I need to apply?

You'll need basic personal information (name, address, contact info), a valid driver's license, and current income information for all applicants. If you have your license with you at your consultation, we can scan it on the spot to speed things up.

How long does it take to apply?

The application itself is quick, and there are no application or inspection fees. Approval times vary depending on the financing partner, though most homeowners find out quickly.

Will you check my credit?

Yes, all of our financing options require a credit check. This applies even if you're approved and ultimately decide not to move forward with the loan.

Can I apply and not use it?

Yes. Getting approved doesn't obligate you to use the financing. It will still show up as an inquiry on your credit report.

What financing companies do you work with?

We partner with several reputable financing companies, including options designed for homeowners with a range of credit profiles. Your design consultant can walk you through which options you may qualify for.

When do payments start?

This depends on the financing partner, but many plans begin payments after your project is complete.

How do I make payments?

Most vendors offer a secure online portal for setting up recurring payments, and some also accept payments by mail.

Is there a lien on my home?

No, none of our financing options place a lien on your property.

Will my loan be sold to someone else?

No, your loan stays with the financing company you're approved through.

Do I need a deposit before financing starts?

No deposit is required. Your project cost is divided into monthly payments for the duration of your loan.

Can I pay partly in cash and finance the rest?

Yes, we can combine a cash payment with financing to fit your budget.

Is there a discount for paying in cash?

We do offer a discount for cash payments. Ask your design consultant for current details.

Do I need to use both incomes in my household?

This depends on the financing partner, some allow a single income, others require all homeowners' income to be included.

Are there closing costs or appraisal fees?

No, our financing options don't come with the extra fees you'd typically see with a traditional bank loan.

Do I need to prove my income?

Usually not, it's typically verified through your credit history rather than pay stubs or documents. In rare cases it may be requested.

Can I add a second project to an existing loan?

No, each project requires its own financing approval. If you finance windows now and want to do siding later, that would be a separate application.

Finding the right option for you

Every homeowner's situation is different. Some prefer to pay off a project quickly with a short-term plan, while others prefer to spread payments out over a longer period. Your design consultant can walk you through current rates, terms, and which financing partners might be the best fit for your project and credit profile.
