What is included in ProVia’s window warranties? 

The first element to understanding your ProVia window warranty is to know what is included in the coverage. 

ProVia’s warranty claims the product will be free from material defects for as long as the original purchaser lives in their home. 

This means that if any problems in your windows arise from manufacturing defects, it is covered under the warranty for your life in your home. The warranty is transferable one time from the original homeowner and purchaser. 

There are many components to a window, and each part has its level of protection and length of protection. Each window component has different coverage lengths between single-family residential homes and non-residential structures. Churches, schools, government buildings, and law-recognized businesses are examples of non-residential structures. 

We will break down each window component and explain the bounds of their coverage. 

Basic window frame

The ProVia window frame is warranted as long as you live in your home. This covers chipping, cracking, peeling, pitting, or blistering for as long as you live in your home. 

The frame is covered for five years and is not transferable for non-residential structures. 

Interior paint and stain

Factory-applied paint or stain to interior wood components, like trim, are warranted for ten years from installation. This protects against flaking, checking, blistering, peeling, material defects, and workmanship. 

Interior finishes are warranted for one year in non-residential structures.

Hardware

All hardware or moving parts, like the balance and locking mechanisms, have a lifetime warranty. Defects caused by normal wear and tear are not covered.

For non-residential structures, hardware is covered for one year.

Insulated glass utilizing Super Spacer

ProVia windows with a Super Spacer in insulating glass are warranted for a lifetime. This protects against film forming between glass panes that cause visible obstruction caused by seal failure. This also includes fogginess between panes and the deterioration of coatings.

Minor marks, spots, lint, and scratches are not considered defects under this warranty. For non-residential structures, insulated glass is covered for ten years.

Glass breakage

Glass breakage caused by a manufacturing defect is warranted for a lifetime. Glass breakage due to home accidents is justified if not covered by insurance.

In the event of glass breakage, ProVia will replace the glass free of charge for the lifetime of your home. Glass breakage is not warranted for non-residential structures. 

Internal blinds

Internal blinds are protected against seal failure and manufacturing defects for ten years after installation. 

Blinds are covered for five years in non-residential structures. 

Screens

Window screens are covered for a lifetime under everyday use conditions and if there are any signs of rusting, staining, or rotting in aluminum, fiberglass, or stainless steel screens.

It’s important to know what warrants coverage on your ProVia windows. The second component to understanding your warranty is to understand what is excluded. 

 

What is not included in ProVia’s window warranty?

Knowing the bounds of your window warranty includes knowing what the warranty does not cover. Exclusions are usually found in the fine print and can be easy to miss. 

The devil is in the details with any warranty or contract. You want to ensure you understand what to expect from the company you choose for your project. 

We will outline the exclusions in ProVia’s window warranty so you will have a clear idea of what is not covered. 

Natural wear, DIY paints, unreasonable use

The first category of exclusions deals with how you treat your windows. Any tints, paints, or finishes not ProVia approved and torn screens are not covered. Any damages due to negligence, abuse, or unreasonable use are also not covered.

Windows installed in vehicles and ships are also not warranted.

Proper installation is one of the most important things that must be included in your window replacement project. If the windows are not installed properly, then the warranty is voided.

Natural causes and weather conditions

Natural weathering or fading of surfaces and seal failure are not covered under warranty. Damage from weather like fire, lightning, windstorms, earthquakes, and other Acts of God are not covered. 

Damage from wind-borne objects is also not covered. Condensation, frost, or freezing is not covered or a sign of defect. 

Foundational movement

Over time, the foundation of your home will shift with the earth. Window frames shift as well, causing them to not fit properly in the square. 

Any damages due to the natural shifting of the structure's foundation are not warranted. This includes inadequate support for the expansion and contraction of the frame. 

Caulking

Caulk is not considered part of your ProVia window installation. However, it is common for caulk to be applied around frames and trims as a sealant. 

ProVia refers to caulking as part of maintenance responsibility and is not covered under warranty. 

Most exclusions in window warranties deal with damages or defects out of the manufacturer's control. 

 

Do you need to file a claim on your ProVia Windows?

If you notice any manufacturing defects on your ProVia windows or have accidental glass breakage, you must contact your contractor to have it inspected. 

If the product is found defective under warranty, ProVia will repair or provide a new product to replace it. Any claims must include a copy of the warranty certificate and contract evidence of the purchase.
