Known for their craftsmanship and wide range of styles, ProVia is a go-to name if you're in the market for a high-quality front door. For almost 50 years, they’ve been designing and building doors that are beautiful, functional, and (depending on which product line you choose) affordable.
But with so many options out there, it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed. Fiberglass or steel? Traditional or modern? What about energy ratings, security features, or warranties?
At Southwest Exteriors, we’ve been selling ProVia for decades, and we’ve written this guide to make things simple. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know about ProVia doors—from the different types and features to price (yes, we'll give you actual numbers).
Who Is ProVia?
One thing many people love about Provia is that they’re not just another big box manufacturer; they’re a family-owned company with a commitment to their community, employing hundreds of locals in Sugarcreek, Ohio - the heart of the Ohio Amish Country.
Founded in 1977, they've earned a reputation in the home improvement world, not just for the quality of their doors, but also for their service, integrity, and ethos of doing things the right way, even if it takes a little more time and care.
Every door is made to order, customized to fit your home’s exact specifications and your personal style. Their manufacturing process blends old-school craftsmanship with modern technology. Skilled workers hand-assemble and inspect each product, while precision tools and machines ensure consistency and performance.
Types of ProVia Doors
So what kinds of doors does ProVia make? Well, just about any kind you need, whether you’re looking to make a bold statement at your front entry, upgrade your patio, or protect your home with a durable storm door.
Entry Doors
ProVia has four main entry door lines: Embarq, which is a top-of-the-line, highly durable and energy-efficient option; Signet, their most customizable fiberglass entry door; Heritage, a more affordable fibgerglass option; and Legacy, a tough, durable steel.
One of the remarkable things about ProVia’s fiberglass doors is that they can designed to look just like real wood – and when we say just like, we mean virtually indistinguishable.
Let’s take a closer look.
Embarq® Fiberglass Entry Door
This is one of the most beautiful and energy-efficient entry doors on the market - it’s built for cutting-edge performance. It features a thicker fiberglass construction (2.5" thick compared to the industry standard 1.75"), an integrated channel for more robust insulation, and a dual perimeter seal that locks in comfort and keeps out drafts.
If you want the best of the best, this is it.
Signet® Fiberglass
The Signet® line is all about style and realism. Not only are these fiberglass doors are designed to look like real wood, but they are the most customizable of ProVia’s entry door lines.
Heritage® Fiberglass
If you want the benefits of fiberglass with a lower price tag, the Heritage® line offers a simpler construction while still giving you the option of woodgrain or smooth finishes. These are great if you want solid performance and clean, classic styling without breaking the bank.
Legacy® Steel
Prefer the added security and durability of steel? The Legacy® door line is ProVia’s steel option, offering incredible strength and a smooth, polished appearance. These doors are made with 20-gauge steel (thicker than the industry standard).
Patio Doors
ProVia also offers three patio door lines: Aeris, Aspect, and Endure.
Important note: While we sell lots of ProVia entry doors at Southwest, we don’t sell too many ProVia patio doors. In our view, Anlin and Infinity from Marvin offer superior patio door options (and Anlin usually costs less). That being said, we do sell ProVia patio doors for those who prefer them.
Aeris and Aspect Vinyl Patio Doors
- Aeris is a hybrid door system offering the strength and efficiency of vinyl on the outside and the warmth of real wood on the inside. Perfect for homeowners who want modern performance but love the look of traditional wood interiors.
- Aspect is a fully vinyl patio door system that’s more budget-friendly than Aeris and Endure. It’s a decent option if you are looking for a good sliding door on a small budget.
- Endure patio doors offer energy efficiency, durability, and style, all in a fully vinyl system. Designed for homeowners who want reliable performance with customizable design options, Endure doors feature a robust construction, advanced insulation, and a wide selection of color and hardware choices to complement any home’s aesthetic.
Storm Doors
Storm doors might not be the star of the show, but they play an important supporting role, and they can be beautiful too.
ProVia’s storm door collections include:
- Spectrum – Features retractable screens at the top and bottom for ventilation without sacrificing visibility.
- Decorator – Stylish designs with full-glass panels and decorative touches to elevate your entryway.
- Deluxe – A durable, all-purpose option that balances function and aesthetics.
- DuraGuard – Comes with heavy-duty stainless steel screening—great for homes with pets or high traffic.
- Superview – A budget-conscious choice offering basic protection and a clean look.
Storm doors are ideal for adding an extra layer of insulation, letting in fresh air during mild weather, and protecting your main entry door from the elements.
ProVia Door Warranties
While warranty specifics vary depending on which door line you choose, one thing is consistent across the board: ProVia stands behind their craftsmanship.
Their warranties cover everything from structural integrity and finish quality to insulated glass units and hardware. And in many cases, they offer lifetime transferable warranties, which can even add value to your home if you decide to sell.
Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect:
Entry Doors
- Embarq, Signet, Heritage, and Legacy Doors all come with a Lifetime Limited Transferable Warranty for the original homeowner. This covers issues like warping, cracking, or delaminating of the door slab, plus a lifetime warranty on the insulated glass (if applicable).
- Factory-applied paint and stain finishes are also covered, but the timeframes vary—15 years for Embarq and Signet, and 10 years for Heritage and Legacy doors.
- Hardware, like locks and handles from brands like Schlage and Emtek, often carries a lifetime finish and mechanical warranty when installed on these doors.
Patio Doors
- ProVia’s Aeris, Aspect, and Endure patio doors offer lifetime warranties on the vinyl frame and insulated glass (including a lifetime glass breakage warranty for units with Super Spacer® technology).
- Internal blinds come with a 10-year warranty, and hardware is typically covered for the lifetime of homeownership.
Storm Doors
- ProVia’s aluminum storm doors also come with a Lifetime Limited Transferable Warranty for the paint finish and glass, plus a lifetime warranty on special features like the InVent™ retractable screen system.
- Standard hardware components on storm doors have shorter coverage periods—typically one year for mechanical parts—but premium finishes like Bright Brass and Satin Nickel are covered against tarnishing for life.
Of course, like any manufacturer, ProVia’s warranties have conditions. Damage caused by improper installation, neglect, extreme weather, or acts of God isn’t covered. Coastal installations and commercial applications also have shorter warranty periods.
Cost of ProVia Doors
Ok, so how much does a ProVia door cost? While actual pricing will vary based on your region, installer, and customization level, here’s a ballpark breakdown to give you an idea of what to expect:
- Heritage® Fiberglass Entry Door: Between $5,000–$12,000 installed
- Signet® Fiberglass Entry Door: Typically $6,500–$20,000 installed
- Embarq® Fiberglass Entry Door: Ranges from $10,000–$25,000 installed
- Legacy® Steel Entry Door: Generally $6,000–$8,000 installed
- Patio Doors (Aeris, Aspect, Endure): Anywhere from $6,000–$15,000 depending on materials, size, and features. The Aeris is the most expensive, while Aspect and Endure are significanty cheaper.
Several variables can influence the cost of a ProVia door. Here’s what to keep in mind:
- Material: Fiberglass and steel each have different price points. Premium fiberglass (like Embarq®) tends to be more expensive than standard options.
- Customization: The more personalized your door—think custom colors, unique glass designs, or added sidelites—the higher the price.
- Glass Options: Decorative, privacy, or energy-efficient glass packages will add to the total.
- Hardware: Upgrading to designer handles, smart locks, or heavy-duty hinges will slightly bump up the cost.
- Size & Configuration: Single vs. double doors, added transoms, or complex entryway builds will affect pricing.
- Installation Requirements: Removing and disposing of an old door, adjusting framing, or handling structural changes can increase labor costs.
While the upfront investment in a ProVia door may be higher than a stock door from a big-box store, the long-term return on investment is often worth it.
- Energy Savings: ProVia’s insulated cores, weatherstripping, and low-E glass options can help lower your heating and cooling bills—especially with models like the Embarq®, which offers industry-leading energy efficiency.
- Durability: Fewer repairs, less maintenance, and a longer lifespan mean you won’t be replacing the door again anytime soon.
- Curb Appeal: A stylish front door boosts your home’s visual appeal and can add value when it’s time to sell.
- Security and Peace of Mind: A well-built door protects what matters most—your family and your home.
If you're looking for a quick, cheap fix, ProVia may not be the right fit. But if you're after a door that looks incredible, performs reliably, and saves you money in the long run, ProVia offers real value for every dollar spent.
Is a ProVia Door Right for You?
By now, you’ve probably noticed that ProVia doors have a lot going for them. But are they the right fit for your home, budget, and goals?
Before you make your final decision, take a moment to consider the following:
- How long do I plan to stay in this home? If you’re settling in for the long haul, investing in a premium door with better insulation and long-term durability makes a lot of sense.
- Do I care more about budget upfront or value over time? ProVia may cost more than a basic door initially, but the energy savings and longevity can pay off down the road.
- Is energy efficiency important to me? If you live in a region with extreme temperatures or want to lower your energy bills, ProVia’s foam-filled cores and weatherproofing are hard to beat.
- Do I want a highly customized look? If your home has a specific architectural style—or you just want a door that reflects your personal taste—ProVia’s design flexibility is a major win.
- Do I want peace of mind when it comes to security and support? ProVia doors are built like tanks and backed by industry-leading warranties. If safety and low maintenance matter to you, it’s a solid choice.
Ideal Scenarios for ProVia vs. Other Brands
To help put things into perspective, here’s a quick look at when ProVia is the best fit—and when another brand might make more sense.
Choose ProVia If...
- You want a door that balances beauty, strength, and performance.
- You're looking for full customization—style, finish, glass, hardware, everything.
- Energy efficiency and insulation are high priorities.
- You value craftsmanship and want a door made-to-order, not mass-produced.
- You’re working with a professional contractor or local dealer.
Consider Other Brands If...
- You’re flipping a house or making a short-term upgrade and need to minimize upfront costs.
- You’re looking for a quick, DIY-friendly option from a big-box store.
- You’re okay with fewer customization options and a more standard look.
Here’s a handy chart to help you weigh the decision:
Pros | Cons |
Exceptional build quality and craftsmanship | Higher upfront cost than basic doors |
Outstanding energy efficiency | Not typically sold at big-box retailers |
Deep customization options for style and features | Installation requires a certified contractor |
Strong security and weather resistance | Wait times for custom orders can be longer |
Excellent warranties and customer service | May be too expensive for short-term or budget projects |
